31 Days - Mulberry Bush

Is your 3-year-old the youngest of the family, or are all the kids your child plays with close to that same age?  If so, then you know how difficult it can be to find ways for them to all be involved in the fun and games - so many choices are just too advanced for this age.

But now, you'll have a list of 31 unique games that even a 3-year-old can join in with.  A few of these ideas will be best for the preschool set, but most will work for a wide range of ages!

Click on over here to see the full list, but read on for this great game idea!

A noncompetitive musical game that is active, gets children excited about chores (well, no promises on that one!), and can last indefinitely.

I always love how creative kids get with this!

Mulberry Bush

Players:  2 +

Ages:  3 +

Place:  a space large enough for the players to form a ring

Equipment:  none

How to play:  The players join hands and form a circle.

The players then walk in a circle while singing:

Here we go 'round the mulberry bush,
The mulberry bush, the mulberry bush.
Here we go 'round the mulberry bush,
So early in the morning.

Now the players stand still and come up with a chore for the next verse.  While they sing, they act out whatever the chore is.

Play continues as long as the chore ideas do.  Here is a list of some traditional (and non-traditional) chore verses:

This is the way we wash our clothes...
This is the way we iron our clothes...
This is the way we mend our clothes...
This is the way we sweep the floor...
This is the way we brush our teeth...
This is the way we wash our hair...
This is the way we comb our hair...
This is the way we drive our car...
This is the way we vacuum the floor...
