5 After 5, Everyday Chores Edition

Have you switched into full-on Christmas prep mode yet?

I haven't quite gotten there, but I'm close.  Too busy doing a little pre-holiday de-cluttering so we can get the decorations up.

What are five chores you do every day? Read on for my list...

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was ways to relax and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

List 5 chores you do every day

I've let a lot of things slip over the years around the house - I went from constantly cleaning to spending more time enjoying life amongst the dirt (I've decided there are plenty of things more important in life than a spotless home!)

But there are still certain things I have to do every day to maintain my sanity here at home:

1.  Make my bed

Most days, I never even go back into the bedroom from the moment I wake up until I'm climbing back into bed at night, but I have got to make my bed right away, regardless.

It's so fast and easy - and gives me the immediate satisfaction of seeing a task already completed so quickly!

2.  Tidy up the kitchen

This one is never-ending, but it's an absolute imperative for me.

You have to walk through our kitchen to get just about anywhere in our house, so any bit of mess here drives me bonkers pretty quickly.

Besides, who wants to cook a meal like this in a messy kitchen, right?

3.  Sweep the floor

We don't have any carpet in this house (which breaks my heart, since I love to vacuum and hate to sweep/mop), so I notice every single little crumb and dust bunny right away.

If I'm really lazy, I'll just walk over to the small rug in front of our entry door and wipe all the crud off my feet there, but usually I'm a constant-sweeping maniac - I swear, post-cutting-project paper scraps multiply like rabbits around here...

4.  Go through the mail

I hate clutter, so I'm one of those crazy people who actually goes through all the mail the second I walk in the door.

Luckily, this is a pretty fast task - most all of it goes directly into the recycle bin - so this isn't actually too much of a chore.

5.  Cook

Sometimes the "cooking" is just throwing together a humongous salad for dinner, but you can pretty much guarantee that I'm cooking or baking something up every single day.

Whipping up ingredients before I make a meal is awfully tiring sometimes, but it's one of the ways we're able to survive on one small income and as a bonus, it's usually a much healthier option, too!

For next week:

List 5 of your favorite Christmas cookies or treats

I'm drooling just thinking about next week's topic - I might just have to make a few of my favorites between now and then and I can't wait to see what yours are!

And now, here's this week's link party!  Two other fabulous bloggers have teamed up with me to create lists of five each week and we hope that you'll join us, too!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our three blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow each of the three hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.
