Welcome back to Latticed Learning!  This year, we're continuing to learn while we play - repeating many of our favorites from last year while adding in all sorts of new activities as well.

This day's post is devoted to our weekly Bible stories - some weeks have more activities than others, but each lesson will help your little one grow closer to God!

Read the Bible

Pages 251-256 in this Bible and 171-177 in this one

Read a Little More

I found several decent-looking books for this week's lesson:

This book that I reviewed was fun, as was this one!

Daniel and the Lions' Den Children's Book and CD Set

Sing Some Songs

I came up with two different songs for this week's lesson:

Daniel and the Lions

Daniel

Watch Some Videos

This video fit perfectly with our Bible lesson.

We also watched this movie.

Play and Create

We did a few things to learn more about Daniel in the lion's den:

We first cut out this cute mini book to add to Gv's dollar store photo album full of Bible stories.

We made this adorable lion out of hearts (perfect, since we were gearing up for Valentine's Day):

(I did the cutting, she did the gluing) - Use the old fold-paper-in-half-and-cut-half-a-heart trick - for all 3 hearts.  Then add googly eyes to make it extra exciting.

This paper plate lion mask was fun for Gv to create.  I didn't even get a chance to do it with her (I'd planned to talk about patterns while we glued down the paper strips) because she discovered the supplies (cut-out plate, craft stick and paper strips) on the table and just made it herself.

ROAR!  (Cutest little lion I ever did see!)

We created our own little lion's den tableau inspired by this cute cupcake-liner idea.  Of course, Gv had to add in googly eyes, and then she demanded that we include an angel, which made perfect sense!

The gunk in the lower right-hand corner is what happens if your child has decided to glue other projects together on top of those already sitting out to dry...

We made a little lion out of a plastic spoon and tissue paper (just spread glue all over the inside of the spoon and then your little one can add the paper mane):

This was Lion Spoon, Version 2.0.  Version one somehow ended up on the floor, where Bigfoot demolished it...

We created our own version of this idea, with the addition of googly eyes, of course:

I printed out this lion and then showed Gv how to fold a cootie catcher:

Gosh, did I spend major time making these in elementary school!

Finally, I pulled out the awesome oil pastels I got for Christmas and Gv and I followed this lesson to draw lions:

Yes, I know this looks like a child drew it, but, uuuuh, that's the effect I was going for...

I love this little blue lion!!
