5 After 5, Summer Bucket List 2017

Some of our friends have built incredible bucket lists for the summer -- even numbering 100 items long!

Here are our top 5 activities to check off our list.

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was fun kid crafts and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

Summer Bucket List

We're not quite ready for summer here in the Healy household, but many of our friends are -- one amazing mom even has 100 fabulous ideas to work through over the next couple months!

We've never really come up with a bucket list for the summer, but here are the top five things we're hoping to do:

1. Camp in the mountains

Our "compound" from last year. We're thinking of keeping things much smaller this year, since we're planning to be out there about half as long...

We usually spend an entire month out in the wilderness of the NC mountains. This year, we're batting around the idea of shortening that trip (or maybe exploring other areas a bit), but we have to at least spend a couple weeks out there in "our" second home!

2. Get rid of half our stuff

Well, maybe not half, but a bunch.

Remember my goals at the beginning of this year? I've actually been chipping away at all of them pretty well, but item #2 on the list still has much, much work to be done before it can be crossed off.

Here's hoping it happens...

3. Take a sailing lesson as a family

G came across some affordable family sailing lessons earlier this year (one of the benefits of living so close to the coast!), but we'd thought they were only for older children.

We recently discovered that Gv is old enough to try them, so we've added this to our list for the summer.

4. Swim safety lessons for Gv

We took Gv to these free community lessons over spring break, but just discovered that another area YMCA is offering them this summer (one of the benefits of living on the county line!)

She's already looking forward to four more days of getting used to the water -- hopefully it doesn't get canceled due to rain like some of the other classes did!

5. Participate in reading incentive programs

No, Gv's not reading this book all by herself. It is one of her favorites to "read," though! See my post on this book, if you haven't already.

We did several of these last year (even one at "our" library up where we camp!), so this isn't anything new. But the new aspect to this year's summer reading is that we won't be logging all the hours just from read alouds!

In just the last week and a half (we started our summer early), Gv's already read 13 library books all by herself!

I can't wait to see how this changes things. Not that we'll stop reading books together (If I have my way, we'll still be reading together until she moves out), but it will add a fun, new dimension to our summer, I'm sure!

For next week:

Summer Reading List

I actually can't stop laughing as I share this topic, because for most of the summer, I pretty much read at least a book a day (sometimes more, while we're camping!)

So I don't have a clue how I'll narrow this list down to five, but I guess I'll just try to pick the five I'm most excited to get to -- and I'm sure I'll add some of yours to my list, too!

And now, here's this week's link party!  Another fabulous blogger has teamed up with me to create a list of five each week and we hope that you'll join us, too!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow both of the hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.

Your Hosts:

Lisa, at Syncopated MamaFacebook // Twitter // Pinterest // Google+ // Bloglovin'
Samantha, at Motivated DaysTwitter // Pinterest // Google+

What's your list?  I'd love to hear!  Either leave a comment below or email me at lisahealy (at) outlook (dot) com.

Also, if you don't want to miss a single minute of fun around here, be sure to sign up for free updates and then look forward to having each post delivered right to your inbox!
