5 After 5, Fun Fall Activities

We might not actually experience fall around here, but there are definitely certain things we like to do in our "not fall."

It's time for another round of 5 After 5!  In case you missed it, last week's list was favorite fall recipes and if you're new to this series, you can read more about it here - then catch up on all the old editions here.

Today I've got my list of 5 to share, as well as next week's topic for you to stew about over the upcoming days.

And this series is a link party, so be sure to scroll down and join in all the fun with us this week!

List 5 fun activities for fall

We don't exactly experience fall around here, but there are definitely a few traditions we love to engage in each time this season announces its arrival (at least on paper, if not out the window!)

1.  Museum Day

Have you heard about this fantastic opportunity yet?  We've gone to several of them over the past few years and are just so happy that we have this chance to visit some of our area's best museums for free!

We've even had a museum marathon session before - where we visited three in a row (you'll need to print out passes for each one) in the span of just a few hours - I will warn you, however, that plan is pretty exhausting!

This special day might not have much to do with a crisp breeze blowing crackling leaves off the trees, but since it occurs right after Autumn begins each year, we associate it with fall.

2.  Festival of the Masters

There are all sorts of art festivals going on this time of year that are fantastic, but the one held here can't help but be extra-magical.

It's been cancelled the past two years (and it seems to be this year, as well) due to a complete overhaul of the venue, but we're already looking forward to its return to our traditional fall to-do list in the future.

3.  Outdoor Concerts

There's one main concert held in a nearby town that we make sure never to miss (complete with a bang-up fireworks finale!), but we can usually find several others scattered about the area during this time of year.

I guess everyone here just likes to pretend that the weather is actually pleasant enough to sit out on the lawn and listen to a few great tunes...at least our summer afternoon rainstorms have usually let up by this point!

4.  Crafts

Fall ushers in the onslaught of holiday time and when you're a kid - or have a kid of your own - that means all kinds of crafts.

We've already started in with some pumpkin crafts (just to spread out the fun), but we'll be gearing up for some fun Halloween and Thanksgiving projects soon.

5.  Go find some fall somewhere

We're usually going bonkers by the time November rolls around - just not fans of the whole endless summer thing - so we take advantage of the break at Thanksgiving to get at least a little closer to someplace where lush green leaves aren't stubbornly clinging to all the trees.

Even though we'd love to head up to our usual free spot in the mountains, one too many freezing Thanksgivings in a tent have kept us a bit closer to the Florida-Georgia border in recent years.

For next week:

Best Bedtime Routines

It's hurricane season over here, so we're spending lots of time hunkering down as the storms head our way -- which I guess makes me think sleepy thoughts and wonder what everyone's bedtime routines look like.

I can't wait to see what you share next week!

That's right, every post will be read, pinned and tweeted!

Every Saturday, just stop by one of our blogs to add your own list of five, then pop over and read as many other posts as you're able to each week - treat it like a true party and really mix it up and mingle with our fun little community!

The rules are simple:  just write your own list following the prompt each week (feel free to interpret it loosely - or in a unique way!), follow both of the hosts on the social media channel of your choice, and then get into the spirit of the party by grabbing your favorite beverage or snack and reading the lists of the other party-goers.
